Our newest barrel selection is a very special one as it was one of the final ones picked by Patrick Kohn, who recently passed and is still near and dear to our hearts.

In honor of his legacy and a tribute to PK we will be contributing $15 of every bottle purchased to his chosen charity, University of Iowa Children's Stead Family Hospital, who treated his nephew who was born with a rare heart defect.

We've included some words directly from Mr. Kohn's brother Chris expressing his gratitude and their story. Please consider supporting this fantastic pick that was also selected by Art Krause and our Operator Matt Wymore!

A delicious and easily approachable Rye with aromas of sweet wine, candied fruits and a wonderful complex taste of cherries, vanilla, spice, stone fruits, and dark berries that is rounded out nicely with more notes of vanilla and candied fruit.

"Patrick’s nephew Will was born with a rare heart defect in 2010 and because of that had many heart procedures even before his year long hospital stay waiting for a heart transplant in 2017. In February of 2017 Will had the pleasure of being the very first patient at the new University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. While there he was able to participate in 4 ‘waves’ from the hospital during his stay. Which he loved because it allowed him to get out of his room a bit and get some treats he may not always get in his room. He ended up receiving his new heart in September of 2017, home finally in December but unfortunately was diagnosed with cancer later that month and passed away in January 2018 while still hospitalized." - Chris Kohn
